Favorite St Croix Road Trips:
Great Pond Bay, Southshore, St Croix |
Begin at historic Columbus Landing in Salt River Bay and head west along St Croix's famous northshore road as it winds around hills and mountains with a view to the sea most of the way. Stop at Canebay for lunch and a swim and continue on to scenic Carambola Hotel. Return by driving up over "The Beast" (aka River Road), a famous Triathalon mountain road that separates the pros from the pikers.
The East End Road from Christiansted to Point Udall, --returning by the Southshore road. Begin in Christiansted and drive east out of town keeping left all the way out east, past the rolling hills of the east end, and into the cactus lands and beautiful ocean vistas. Several pull offs and trails down to remote beaches. Take the eastend road all the way to Point Udall, a spectacular bluff with 280 degree view of the ocean at the farthest eastern point in the USA. Return via the Southshore road following the signs to Divi Casino and keeping the ocean on your left all the way down past Great Pond and through cattle country to Limetree Bay refinery.
The West End road from Frederiksted to Butler Bay.
Start in Frederiksted and drive up the west side of the island along the rainforest.
The Rainforest-Mahoghany Road from mid-island to Rainbow Beach on the west end.
Bring your map for this rainforest road adventure. Don't forget to stop at the world-famous "Beer Drinking Pigs" up in the rainforest at the Domino Club.
